Kimberly Baltzell, LMSW

Dedicated advocate and pioneer in the field of social services for adults with developmental disabilities and/or mental illness

Kimberly Baltzell graduated from University of Central Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Sociology in 2016. She later acquired her Master's degree in Social Work in 2020.

Upon graduation from high school, Kimberly immediately began working as a direct support professional, supporting adults with developmental disabilities. Soon thereafter, she became a direct care supervisor within the same agency.

She quickly discovered her passion for this population and her desire to continue her career in this field.

Kimberly later became involved with ArkSTART (Center for START Services) and completed training to become an In-home Therapeutic Supports Coach for adults with co-occurring mental illness and developmental disabilities.

Additionally, she became a Crisis Intervention and Consultation Specialist, a position she proudly serves in at this time.

Through her service in the field, Kimberly recognized the disparity between services offered and services needed for adults with co-occurring mental illness and developmental disabilities and the grave negative effects this disparity carries. For this reason, Kimberly and Alvin Baltzell founded Becoming Home, Inc. Their desire is to bridge the gap and provide the services both needed and deserved by this population.

Baltzell, B.S.

Alvin Baltzell is the co-founder of Becoming Home, Inc. Alvin obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor focus in Sociology from the University of Central Arkansas in 2018. Throughout his tenure at UCA, Alvin also worked as a direct support professional for adults with developmental disabilities, gaining four years of experience in the mental health field.

Alvin later became an Operations Supervisor for United Parcel Service (UPS), a position in which he currently holds. Alvin served, in a volunteer position, as the Chairman of the African American Business Resource Group for UPS. In this position, he coordinated volunteer and other community events across Arkansas and multiple states, including Iowa, Kansas, and Missouri.

Alvin is very involved in the community and still holds a special place in his heart for the DD community. Recognizing the prevalent economic disparity, Alvin has participated in many volunteer events and fundraisers benefiting the DD community. Through his volunteer work, Alvin was able to obtain a significant donation for a local non-profit waiver provider for adults with developmental disabilities.

Outside of his busy work life, Alvin enjoys spending time with his family and traveling. Alvin co-founded Becoming Home, Inc. to empower adults with developmental disabilities who face barriers in accomplishing goals themselves.
